DIGGING DEEPER INTO THE WORD OF GOD
Bible study is not just intended for Sunday morning. God intends His church to seek Him collectively in His Word throughout the week. For that reason, we challenge everyone who attends our church to take part in a mid-week Bible study.
Why such an emphasis on Bible study? We believe that the Bible is the primary and exclusive means by which God forms and leads His people. From Genesis to Revelation, God calls His people to gather together to hear His Word.
Spending time throughout the week not only provides an additional chance to hear God’s Word, but it also helps to teach how to study God’s Word, and how to read and apply it at home. Not only that, but it also creates community amonst the church family as they fellowship around Scripture together. Because of that, we provide the following Bible study opportunities.
MEN’S BIBLE STUDY
Thursdays, 7-8pm (Chapel)
Men are called to be the spiritual leaders of their families. God also calls upon men to teach and lead the local church. Because of that, men must dedicate time in their busy week to study God’s Word deeply with other men. The men’s Bible study is designed to draw men into a deep study of the Bible and its doctrine. The most recently completed study was through Romans 8, taught via video by Dr. Derek Thomas.
The men’s Bible study also provides a chance for male fellowship as iron sharpens iron and men hold each other accountable and pray for each other in the struggles of life. Open to all adult men or mature teenagers who attend the church.
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY
Thursdays, 9:30-11am (Chapel)
Women’s Bible study should be just as deep as men’s Bible studies. Because of that, the women of the church gather every week to receive rich teaching from Scripture every Thursday morning, often with a workbook that keeps them in the Word throughout the week. Time is also set aside for prayer and fellowship, as well as discussion questions based on the day’s lesson. The current lesson series focuses on the Attributes of God, taught via video by Dr. Steve Lawson.
Snacks and drinks are available, as are nursery and elementary-aged childcare. Open to all adult women who attend the church.
PRECEPTS BIBLE STUDY
The Precepts Bible study method seeks to study God’s Word “line by line,” and “precept upon precept,” (Isa. 28:13) which is another way of saying expositonally, the verse-by-verse study of entire books of the Bible.
The Precepts approach is inductive, meaning that it intends, not just to teach about the Bible, but teach how to study the Bible, without the use of commentaries or sermons. It is rigorous, but doable, demanding, but reasonable.
Multiple classes of limited size are available at different times throughout the week. All classes, however, study through the same biblical book at the same pace together. Because of the demands of the class and limited space size, walk-ins are not accepted, and students must pre-register to attend. Open enrollment occurs at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester.
