Jesus tells the parable about a gracious God who gives the same gift of salvation to everyone who puts their faith in Christ. Jesus is talking about salvation, not rewards.
Jesus goes against the religious system of His day. He makes it clear that a person cannot save himself by his own works and his own efforts. Salvation is God’s doing, not man’s doing. He demands that his disciples understand this.
The goodness and generosity of our God is amazing! He not only wants to give us salvation, but also reward us for faithfully serving Him. This is merely "a taste" of the enormous feast of biblical teaching on the doctrine of rewards for the Christian.
